Edwin Ruben “Sonny” Caldwell, 82, passed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, December 8, 2022.

A native of Haywood Co., Sonny was born on March 17, 1940, to the late Calvin and Josie Plemmons Caldwell. He was the last of seven children. He was also a graduate of Clyde A. Erwin High School, class of 1959.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Rector Caldwell; two sons, Ivan Caldwell and Terrance Caldwell (Lucy), of Kona, HI; and daughter, Sonia Pressley (Ken), of Candler. He also left behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who he loved with all his heart.

No service will be held per Sonny’s request. He loved his Marine family and if you would like to make a donation, please do so to the Marine Corps League Detachment 1417, P.O. Box 16464, Asheville, NC 28816, or to a charity of your choice.
