Eileen Garren Riddle, 87, of 125 Burney Mountain Road, Fletcher, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 18, 2005. She happily joined her faithful husband, Rev. Curtis Riddle; loving son and daughter, Pete and Joleen Riddle; sister, Velma Rhodes and brothers, Fred and Claude Garren. A native of Henderson County, she was a daughter of the late David O. and Estelle Freeman Garren. She was retired from C.T.S. and was a member of Hoopers Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include two children, Rhea Lance and husband Burl and William Riddle and wife Sharon; a daughter-in-law, Lucille Riddle wife of late son Pete Riddle; eight grandchildren, Rita Barnwell and husband Alvin, Roxanne McMinn and husband Michael, Conney Riddle and wife Mildred, Rick Lance and wife Lee, Sheila Baker and husband Tony, Pam Justice and husband Daniel, Tonya McCurry and husband Jack and Tammy Stanford and husband Brian; fourteen great-grandchildren, Renita Barnwell, Curtis Damon Barnwell, Amanda and Jason Sanders, Josh and Christi McMinn, Adam and Samantha Riddle, Colbey Baker, Michaela McMinn, Tyler Lance, Brittany Lance, Lacie Baker, Landon Justice, Destini Stanford and Clay McCurry; three great-great-grandchildren, Isaac Sanders, Ezekiel Riddle and Caitlyn Joy McMinn; two sisters, Celia Brevard and Lou Ellen Quinn and a brother-in-law, Ralph Rhodes. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday at Hoopers Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Lawrence Rhodes and Roy Waldroup officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with grandsons serving as pall bearers. Her family will recieve friends from 7:00-9:00 pm Friday at the church and at other times will be at the home of her daughter, Rhea Lance, 517 Jackson Road, Fletcher, NC 28732.

  1. Rhea, my sincerest condolences. I can truly sympathize having lost my mother. It doesn’t matter how old you are or how old you get, you will always miss your mother. I still find myself wanting to tell my mother things or ask her advice. I know you had a good mother like I did, and that is something we can thank God for.   2. Much love and sympathy to the family in the loss of Mrs Riddle. We dearly loved her and Preacher Riddle. She always had a sweet smile on her face. She will be missed but will be in Heaven with Preacher Riddle and our husband and Dad, Vernon Wright.

  4. I really am sorry. I know Leen will be missed, but aren’t you thankful that because of Jesus, all who trust in Him will see her again?
    I have precious memories of her, and the good times I had when I was young and went home with Rhea. She was a lot of fun, and I always felt so welcome in their home. I also remember the sad times when Joleen, Pete, and Curtis went home to be with the Lord. She had a strong faith, and looked to the Lord for strength during those times.

She is in heaven now,with her family and friends. Most of all with God who gave her a good life here on earth.     Eileen will be missed by the many people that she came in contact with while she was employed at CTS. I remember her as a quiet, but friendly person to work around. Take comfort in knowing that she has gone to a better place.
