A native of Buncombe County, Mrs. Hutchison was the daughter of Lura E. Waites and William Henry Head, Jr. and the wife of Bruce Hutchison.
Mrs. Hutchison was a graduate of AB Tech and was a registered nurse.
In addition to the husband, survivors include a son, Pvt. Robert H. Mease of Fort Jackson, SC; maternal grandmother, Sally H. Earwood of Fairview; mother-in-law, Jeanne Hutchison of Bloomington, IN; one sister, Ann H. Briggs of Clemmons, NC; three brothers, William Head, III of Ft. Mill, SC, Will S. Waites of Asheville and John F.W. Head of Galax, VA.
A graveside service will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 PM at Emma's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Rebecca Linquist officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road.
