Eleanor Brooks Ward

Eleanor Brooks Ward, 83, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2014. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Otis and Maude Fullam Brooks and wife of the late James C. Ward, who passed away in 2007. Eleanor was a member of Long Shoals Baptist Church and a retired high school teacher in Henderson County. She is survived by a daughter, Connie Ward Slack and her husband, Brian, of Arden; son, Martin Ward of Mills River; two grandchildren, Briana and Cheryl Slack and a great granddaughter, Giavanna Lordman. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Calvary Churchyard.
