Arden- Eleanor Jo Payne Lynn, 85, of Arden, died Monday, September 20, 2021 at her residence.
A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Nellie Witz Payne.
Jo is survived by her children, Joseph David McCurry of Asheville, Stephanie Diane Lynn Taylor of Weaverville and Charles Steve Lynn of Hendersonville. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A private family Graveside Service will be held.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

I worked with Jo for many years. She was a good person. She loved her kids and grandkids. We connected on her birthday most years since she retired. Comfort and prayers for the family in this difficult time.

Steve and Stephanie, I was so sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. I enjoyed it when we would meet in a store or by chance somewhere and get “caught up”about our children. I know she will be missed. Please accept my deep sympathy.

I am so sad to learn of your mom’s passing. She was the first grandchild & I was the (next to) last of Collie & Ethel Payne, with 20 years between us. She was so kind to me as I was growing up & I have such fond memories of how devoted she was to my mom following my parents’ divorce and mom’s rehabilitation from a broken hip. I will miss her phone calls and the trips we often took down memory lane.
