Born in: Dawson, Georgia
Resided in: Asheville, North Carolina

Elizabeth Ann Teel, 97, of 3199 Sweeten Creek Road, died peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Arbor Terrace of Asheville.

Ann was born November 15, 1927 in Dawson, Georgia, daughter of the late Thomas Luther Steadham and Anna Mae Strickland Steadham. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Samuel H. Teel.

Ann had a blessed life! As a kindergarten and first grade teacher at Randolph Elementary School in Asheville, she touched the lives of many children. Ann enjoyed traveling and touring, especially Europe with her husband and friends. Searching out new recipes and whipping up something special to share was another of her hobbies. She enjoyed being a member of the Toastmistress Club of Asheville. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church for many years.

Ann was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts!

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Dennis McNeal of Pawley’s Island, SC; two sons, Sam Teel, Jr. and Carey Teel and his wife, Teresa of Asheville; three grandchildren, Anna, Jesse, and Bailee; three great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Michael and Teel; and her loving caregiver of 11 years, Evelyn Cartledge, who has been like a daughter to Ann.

We appreciate Mary Hensley’s help and tender care during the last few years! Ann really loved her.

A special thanks to Susan and the staff at Arbor Terrace of Asheville, where Ann lived for the last 11 years. We appreciate the kindness, thoughtfulness, and love she received from so many, especially Ken. Also, thank you to the staff of Four Seasons Hospice for support and comfort during Ann’s last days.

A family memorial service will be held at a later time, with the Reverend Leah Brown officiating.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Asheville; 5 Oak Street, Asheville, NC 28801.

  1. I Loved and will always miss Ann!!
She is a very special lady and friend!! Until we meet again my sweet friend RIP 💔

  2. Words cannot express a sorrow I feel for the family. Though I never had the honor of meeting her, it is evident as she was an extraordinary woman as I do know, Elaine and Dennis, their children, Jesse, and Anna and their amazingly smart, brilliant, polite, grandchildren. Each of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, hold a piece of her within them. Her legacy will live on through them. May I express my most sincere sympathy to her entire family.

  3. Mrs Teel was my teacher at Randolph. Over the years she has often come to mind due to her kind and pleasant nature.
