Asheville, NC – Margaret Elizabeth Johnson (Becky) Henderson, a resident of Givens Estates, Asheville, NC, died Wednesday, December 6, 2006, at Givens Estates.
She was the devoted wife of William Franklin (Frank) Henderson who preceded her in death in 1995. Born in Georgia to Nancy Cleveland and Benjamin Moten Johnson on December 17, 1912, she was a longtime resident of Winnsboro, SC, before moving to Givens Estates United Methodist Retirement Community, in 2001.
A memorial service will be held at Givens Estates on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at the Norma Pulliam Chapel at 10:30 AM, with family burial in Winnsboro.
She was a graduate of Georgia State Teachers College, Milledgeville, Ga. and was a part time elementary school teacher and homemaker. She served as a volunteer for the Red Cross and Girl Scouts, and was active in the First Methodist Church of Winnsboro. She was an avid cook and was well known in the community for her rolls and wine cake that she shared with so many. At Givens, she gave her time to volunteer in the gift shop and was an avid bridge player.
She is survived by her two daughters and their families: Harriett (Bunny) Daniels (Mrs. Robert G.) of Asheville, NC and Anne Browning (Mrs. Stephen C.) of Scottsdale, AZ. She will be missed by 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and numerous friends in both Winnsboro and at Givens Estates.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in her memory be sent to the Resident Assistance Fund, Givens Estates, c/o Development Department, 2360 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
