Elizabeth Stroupe Hipps

Elizabeth “Betty” Stroupe Hipps, 81, of Concord, NC, died Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at a Concord health care facility. A native of Savannah, Ga, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Irene McKinnish Stroupe. She was raised in Asheville where she and her husband made their home until 1996 when they moved to Harrisburg, NC to be with their daughter. Mrs. Hipps was retired from RCA and was a charter and active member of Oteen United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Survivors include her husband, Billy M. Hipps and their daughter, Linda H. Hall, both of Concord; a granddaughter, Beth Hall Story, her husband Jeff and their daughter, Ava Marie Story, all of Lincolnton; son-in-law, Robert Ray Hall of Concord; a brother, Hugh Stroupe and his wife Nita of Branson, FL and two nephews, Edward and Major Stroupe. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Harold McKinnish officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the funeral home and request that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Oteen United Methodist Church, 48 Browndale Road, Asheville, NC 28805 or Universal Health Care, PO Box 678, Concord, NC 28026.
