ELIZABETH WYNELLE HENSLEY CARPENTER
ASHEVILLE – Elizabeth Wynelle Hensley Carpenter, 79, went peacefully to the arms of the Lord March 2, 2011.
She was born September 19, 1931 in Yancey County NC. She was the daughter of the late Henry Clay and Mafra Lee Renfro Hensley. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Wayne Hensley.
Wynelle lived the majority of her life in Buncombe County. She was a graduate of Lee Edwards High School and Blanton's Business College. She was employed by the City of Asheville for several years and later served in various administrative assistant positions, including her husband's dental office. She was a past member of both the First Baptist Church of Asheville and the First Congregational Church, where she served as church secretary.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Dr. Max Wilson Carpenter; daughters Laura C. Sharpe and husband Todd of Arden, Pamela C. Nicholson and husband John of Winston Salem, NC; four grandchildren, Emily Sharpe, Henry Sharpe, Erika Nicholson, and Tanner Nicholson; six nieces and three nephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 2 pm in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home. The Rev. Sam McLamb will officiate. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9pm on Friday, March 4, 2011 at the funeral home.

I was so sad when I heard about Wynelle. You both were such wonderful neighbors to our family growing up. Wynelle was such a sweet woman, and I have such positive memories of her. I’m sorry for the loss for you and your family.
