Ellen Angeline Carland Mathis, 90, of Asheville, died Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at the CarePartners Solace Center.
Mrs. Mathis was born on August 30, 1927, to the late Hensen and Angeline Byers Carland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Vaughn Bryson Mathis; daughter, Ellen Dean Mathis; sister, Sadie Bishop; and brothers, Al, Otho, and Ernest Carland.
Surviving are her daughter, Delma Case; sons, Stanley, Arvin and Randy Mathis; sister, Ada Smith; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mrs. Mathis will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 1, at Pisgah View Memorial Park in Candler. The Rev. Marvin D. Mathis will officiate.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
