Ellen Burry Huggins, 81, of Asheville, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at JFK Solace Center.
Born in Greenville County, SC to the late Edgar S. and Ellen Hall Burry, she worked as manager
of food services in several public schools in South Carolina. She was a member of Centre Street Congregational, United Church of Christ and attended
Warren Wilson Presbyterian Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, George H. Huggins.
Survivors include two sons, Houston Huggins, Jr. (Donna) of Saltillo MS and Michael Huggins
(Elisa) of Pelzer, SC; two daughters, Beth Meriwether (Mark) of Asheville, and Cynthia Huggins (Laurel Robinson)of Machias, ME; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren and lifelong friend for 70 years, Joyce O'Shea of Louisiana.
A memorial service will be held Friday, at 1:00 p.m. at Warren Wilson Presbyterian Church. Rev. Dr. Steve Runholt will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar
Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Hartsville, SC.
Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is assisting the family.
