Elmer Lee Riddle, 79, of Leicester, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at the John F. Keever Solace Center.
Elmer was born on May 26, 1938 in Madison County to the late Ellard William and Roxie Walker Riddle. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Pearl Morgan, and three
brothers, Troy, Robert and Earl Riddle.
Elmer was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church for 48 years. He assisted in helping build the first Trinity Baptist Church. Elmer was a deacon and head usher for many years at Trinity. He worked as a milk tanker driver for Biltmore Dairies and retired from Van Wingerden International.
Elmer is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen Jo Sharpe Riddle; a daughter, Teresa; grandson, Joseph Lee Hawkins; brother, Howard Riddle; and 11 nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Hospice, Meg and Debbie, and Chaplain Brian.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Sexton, Rev. Allen Rash, Rev. Donnie Walker, and Rev. Jerry Payne officiating. Interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Flowers are accepted, but for those that wish memorials may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, 216 Shelburne Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
