Elnora Grace McFalls Henson, 97, moved to her Heavenly Home from recent residency at the Pisgah Valley Villas on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.

A native of Buncombe Co., Elnora was the daughter of the late Hobart Nelson, Sr., and Grace Rogers McFalls. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd “Jay” Henson, Jr. (Veteran WWII); and brothers, Hobart McFalls, Jr. (Mary Elizabeth “Lib”) and Jack McFalls (Mary Ruth).

She was a graduate of Sand Hill High School, Class of ’41.

Elnora worked as a receptionist at Asheville Pediatrics for over 30 years, and was well loved by several generations of mothers and babies.

She faithfully attended Grace Baptist Church in West Asheville.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Baity (Bill); son, Harold “David” Henson; grandchildren, David and Jon Baity, and Liz Gruninger; and great-grandchildren, Matthew and Mark Baity, Rachel Baity Nanney, Kristen and Emily Gruninger.

The memorial service for Mrs. Henson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. Rev. Steve Scoggins will officiate.

Private inurnment will take place at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baptist Children’s Homes of NC, PO Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361.

  1. Elnora was a bright light to all she knew. Full of positive energy and good will, she radiated joy and loved to tell stories that left us feeling better about the world. I knew her through her son David, my lifelong friend, and through her daughter Carolyn, who helped in her care in the last phase of her long and happy life. At this difficult time, I send love and condolences to David and Carolyn for your great loss. Elnora was a friend to all who knew her, and she will be sorely missed.

  8. I knew Nora working at Asheville Pediatric. She was always so happy and helpful and always smiling.l am so sorry for her passing. I am sure she will be missed
