Elsie Price Lunsford, 83, of Candler, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 7, 2001.

Mrs. Lunsford was born in Madison County, lived most of her life in Buncombe County, and was a daughter of the late Joe and Finnie Gentry Price. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Buster Lunsford, in 1989, and by a daughter, Carol Jane Lunsford in 1940. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church.

She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family, including one daughter, Patricia Thomas of Candler; one son, Harold Lunsford of Candler; four grandchildren, Leisa Rogers of Belton, SC. Jeff Lunsford of Seneca, SC, Meleisa Woods of Asheville, and Laura Thomas of Candler; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Roy Houston and Lynda Briggs officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park.

Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and at other times will be at the home, 20 Caleb Drive, Candler.

    You may not know me . My mother was Grace Rector Crook. We are family. It is a shame we know so little of one another.
    Mom has gone on to be with the Lord. Maybe she and Elsie will get time to visit.

  3. My Sympathy to the family. I knew Elsie because I was previously her lab technician. She was the sweetest patient I have ever known. I know she is in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
