Emily “Maureen” Green Hollifield, 94, of Bent Creek, died peacefully at her home on October 14, 2023.
She was the daughter of the late Maddie Green of Tennessee and Rev. James A. Green of Buncombe County. She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Edna Hayes Green; her loving husband, J.D. Hollifield; brothers, Albert and Ernest Greene; and her grandson, Floyd “Casey” Hollifield, all of Buncombe County.
Mrs. Hollifield lived in Buncombe County most of her life. She moved here from Tennessee as a young child with her father and two brothers.
Surviving is her son, Roger Dean Hollifield; her grandson, Christopher Jordan Vick (Jessie); and her great-grandson, Ryder Casey Vick, all of Bent Creek.
She was a former member of Sardis Methodist Church. Mrs. Hollifield, along with her husband, owned and operated Hollifield’s Amoco & Garage on Brevard Road for many years until they retired. She was also a hair dresser.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 19th at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with Mr. Stuart Greene officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Vick, Jeremy Pittilo, Stuart Greene, Michael Meeks, Jason Westall and Jared Searcy.
Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue, and other times at her home.

Roger, I have so many great memories of your parents, our Friday night visits, and camping trips. I am sure my parents, your dad and son will be greeting her at Heaven’s Gates. Prayers.
