Emmett Kenneth Goldsmith

Emmett Kenneth Goldsmith, 88, of Asheville, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at the Laurels of Summit Ridge. Born in Buncombe County to the late Haskell D. and Vaughnie Eva Cogburn Goldsmith, he helped organize the Swannanoa Lions Club and served in the US Marine Corps during WWII, the 4th Marine Division, Pacific Area. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Garylee Sales Goldsmith; son, Stanley Kenneth Goldsmith(Peggy) of Charlotte and daughter Donna Marie Frady (Don) of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Stanley Keith Frady (Stephanie) of Hendersonville, Christina Marie Flora (Alan) of Bowling Green, KY, Scott Kenneth Goldsmith (Lindsay)of Hamden, CT and David Kyle Goldsmith of Tampa, FL; great grandchildren, Hannah Frady, Chloe and Nicholas Flora and Caroline Goldsmith; and several nephews and nieces. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Myrtle King, Beatrice Bradburn, Eva Cagle, Troy, Birt and Charles H. Goldsmith. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road, with Rev. Sam McLamb officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Sky View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Benevolence Fund Biltmore Baptist Church, 35 Clayton St., Arden, NC, 28704, or to ABCCM, 217 Coxe Ave., Asheville, NC, 28801.
