Erelene Griffin Netherton

Erelene Griffin Netherton, 86, of Asheville, died Thursday, October 16 at the Oaks on Sweeten Creek Road. Born in Madison County to the late Mitchell A. and Geraldine Stines Griffin, she worked with Sears advertising for many years; was a member of Morningside Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess and taught the Gleaners Sunday school class for many years. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, James Donald "Pete" Netherton who died in 2007. Surviving are son, Alex Netherton and his wife, Suzanne of Asheville; granddaughter, Elizabeth Cisneros and her husband, Oscar, of Burbank, CA and brother, Gerald Griffin of Macon, GA. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, 68 Sweeten Creek Rd., Asheville, NC 28803. Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is assisting the family.
