Ernest Akio Sato

Ernest Akio Sato, 89, passed away on November 3, 2020 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. He was a long time resident of Honolulu, HI but moved to Asheville in 2018 to be close to his daughter.

He was born in Honolulu, HI, the son of Sumiye and Shigegi Sato. He had a brother, who passed away as a child. Ernest worked in shipping and receiving for Yashica and Kyocera, in New York and New Jersey for over 30 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Gloria Greene and her husband, Mark; his grandsons, Dylan and Tomo Haske; his step grandchildren, David and Virginia Greene.

Ernest will be greatly missed by his family, friends and neighbors. He enjoyed walking, observing nature and animals, reading and drawing. Ernest’s quiet, kind, refined and caring nature will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial gifts to The Waikiki Aquarium.
