Ernest Bruce Burnette

Ernest Bruce Burnette Newport, TN - Ernest Bruce Burnette, 82, of Newport, TN and formerly of Fairview, died Tuesday, June 17 2014 at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Carl and Nancy Chambers Burnette. Mr. Burnette is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Mary Jo Treadway Burnette; four sons, Stuart Burnette and his wife, Pam, of Alexander, LaMar Burnette and his wife, Brenda Gail, of Weaverville, Melvin Burnette of Marion and Maurice Burnette of Candler; two sisters, Christine Smith of Fletcher and Clara Lou Grant of Fairview; one brother, Elwood “Buster” Burnette of Candler; 11 grandchildren, Trevor, Alana, Karlynn, Taylor, Christy, Jessica, Sylvia, Chad, Damon, Seth and Greg as well as three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Nahla and Navah. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 20, 2014 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Pastor Steve Smith and Pastor Mike VanZee officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:30 - 2:00 PM prior to the service.
