ERNEST DAVID HELTON Ernest David Helton, 72, of 307 New Leicester Hwy. Lot 17, died Monday, April 7, 2008, at Memorial Campus Mission Hospitals. A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Ernest Lee and Georgia Buckner Helton. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jackie Lee Helton. Mr. Helton worked as a security guard for Security Forces, Inc., for the last 17 years. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He loved to go fishing and play his guitar. Mr. Helton is survived by his daughter, Nancy Sizemore, of Asheville; sons, Jeff and Joel Helton, of Tennessee; sisters, Rebecca Nicholson, of Swannanoa, and Wanda Hampton, of Canton; ex-wife, Lois Helton; grandchildren, Jeremy, D.J., Jeffrey, Michael, Falina, and Tori; great-grandchildren, Carlie, Natalie, and Nathan; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery Chapel with the Rev. Samuel Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Veteran's Cemetery with military rites performed by the Buncombe County Veterans Memorial Team. His family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave.

  4. I remember as a child I used to look forward to Uncle David’s visits. How he always brought love along with his guitar. I’ll never forget his soft spoken voice and the peace it brought with each visit. I love you. Rest in peace.

  5. I remember when uncle david visited mom in hendersonville him and mom and grandpa sat around singing and playing music. I still have the tape.I recorded us singing.It was a great day.he was so kind and sweet. He will be missed, love susie
