Eual “Rusty” Earl Shepherd, Jr., 48, of Asheville, NC passed away on October 9, 2022. He was preceded in death by his Dad; Eual Earl Shepherd, Sr. and by both sets of grandparents; Bob and Marrietta Robinson; Floyd Burrell and Edgar and Eula Shepherd; and his sister, Brenda Shepherd and several other family members he loved.

He is survived by his wife, Trisha Rentmeester Shepherd; his dog, Titus; his mother, Doris Shepherd; sister, Darlene Shepherd; special niece (daughter-in-love) Jenn Shepherd Nikitopoulos; great-nephew; Brayden and great-niece; Brooke; special cousin; Marlene (thanks for all your help during his illness). Also surviving, in-laws; Pat and Ginny Rentmeester; sister-in-laws; MaryAnne Hyder (Keith); their son Brandon; Kelly Hendricks (Nick); sons Harley (Tiffany and daughter Annabella) and Blake.

Rusty worked as a painter at Karpen Steel Industrial for 25 years. He was devoted to his family. Rusty was a prankster and built bonfires that “rocked the holler”. He loved cars especially his red camaro.

He will be dearly missed.

A Memorial Service is planed for Saturday, October 15, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home Tunnel Road, with visitation one hour prior to the service.

  5. I worked with Rusty for almost 5 years at Karpen steel. He was the only reason I looked forward to going to work in that place. He would keep me and everyone there laughing all day long. He was a great guy and would do anything he could to help someone out. I just found out about his passing today and wish his family my best. I know he will miss his niece the most she was the one family member I can remember him talking about all the time he was so proud of her. I will see you again one day friend
