Eugene Valentine Connors, 61, of 59 Cub Road, Asheville, died Saturday, January 19, 2008, at Memorial Campus, Mission Hospitals. Mr. Connors was born in Filbert, PA, and was a son of the late Eugene Valentine Connors, Sr. He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Connors, a brother, Victor Connors, and his father-in-law, William Ziots. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and had lived in Asheville since 1987. He was retired from the VA Medical Center. Surviving are his wife, Linda Ziots Connors; two sons, Eugene Connors and his wife, Lisa, of Asheville and Michael Connors and his wife, Renee, of Asheville; a daughter-in-law, Christina Skogen; four grandchildren, Anthony, Emily, Carson and Zachary; his mother, Emily Olesh; two sisters, Sophia Mathis and Lois Blanchard; two brothers, Bill Connors and Edward Connors; and his mother-in-law, Janet Ziots. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Watkins officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Asheville High School Marine JROTC at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

  11. Linda, what can I say? You lost your husband. I love ya, I’m here for ya, you ask if you need anything. Eug and Mike, you guys lost your dad. I am so proud of you guys and know your dad was too. He raised two fine young men. Me? I lost my big brother. My backup driver for mom. The grocery runner, the hairdresser taker, taking mom wherever when I couldn’t get off work. My friend. Someone to look up to. Mom, you had a heckuva good kid there that grew into a ine man. Sis, Eddie, and Bill, you guys also lost big brother. We are all gonna miss him tremendously and my heart breaks for us all. Love, lil sis Lois
