Eva "Burnette" Stanley, 81, of Candler, went to be with the Lord, on Sunday, July 5, 2015, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was a daughter of the late J.D. and Argana Taylor Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lester Stanley; son, Eugene Stanley; step-son, Earl Stanley; and son-in-law, Randy Herron. Mrs. Stanley sang in the gospel groups The Revivers and Bound By Love. She was a member of Brown's View United Methodist Church. She is survived by her children, Eva Farren (Rick), Jackie Herron, Johnny Stanley, and Linda Mungo (Mike); step-son, Ray Stanley (Janice); brother, Bob Brown (Helen); daughter-in-law, Sharon Stanley; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. A funeral service for Mrs. Stanley will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Dennis Thurman officiating. Interment will follow at Brown's View United Methodist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Jackie Herron, 138 Dogwood Rd., Candler. The family would like to say a special thanks to their brother, Johnny, who has patiently and lovingly taken care of mom for the past 12 years. They also give a special thanks to the staff of the Laurels of Greentree for their care, and to The Fresh Market for providing flowers. Flowers are appreciated or contributions may be made to Groce Funeral Home to assist with the expenses.

  1. Dear Stanley Family, I am so sorry to hear about Eva. To Johnny, who has always been right by her side, My Prayers are for all of you to have peace and that God holds you in His arms. God needed his earthly angel home. She was always a very sweet lady with the sweetest smile.

  3. I will never forget her for her loving caring nurturing ways. She was one of a kind and will be truly missed but never forgotten. She was such a wonderful great grand mother to my Kayla who she kept from the time she was born up until she went to preschool. I could never thank her enough for teaching her about God and how wonderful he is. To the family time will heal your pain, and know she walking with the angels now free of the world’s crazines.   4. I will always remember Burnette for how caring she was and accepted me as a member of her family since I was 12 years old. This is true for the whole Stanley family. I know in my heart she is happily singing with all her angels.

  10. Johnny, Jackie, Linda & Eva, We are so sorry for the loss of your Mother. Prayers have been sent up for her along with Special Masses offered every day at the Sacred Heart Missions. She will be missed by all of us. She is in her Heavenly home now along with Lester & Gene most likely singing praises to the Lord

  11. I lost a special person in my life yesterday, my Mamow. She was an important part of my life, I stayed with her a lot growing up. She taught me how to be a loving person,and how important family is. I am very blessed to have a loving family. I will miss you and think about you everyday! I know you are up in heaven singing with the Angels, I still hear you! I want to thank a special person that kept Mamow alive all this time, uncle John. He is the most amazing person I have ever met,with the heart of an angel. I will be forever thankful to you! Love you Mamow!

She lived her Christian life every day and now she is with Jesus and Jesus said ‘ Welcome in my precious child. No more pain no more sadness.   18. Good Morning Burnette, I bet it is a wonderful feeling you are feeling right now joining your loved ones that has been preparing a place for you. Tell Lester I said Hi, and don’t leave out Gene (RoundMan), enjoy the moments with them, I just want you know what a blessing it has been just knowing such a lovely person as you are. Never had a negative attitude, always seen the good side in everything. Your beautiful smile and your laughter will always remain in my thoughts of you, I love you and will miss you and someday we will see each other again.
