November 13, 1932 ~ December 2, 2023

Born in: Woodfin, NC
Resided in: Asheville, NC

Evelyn Sprinkle Sabiston, beloved wife, mother, and sister, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the age of 91. She was born on November 13, 1932, in Woodfin, NC.

She is survived by her husband, Hilland Borden Sabiston; her sister, Karen Lindsay; three children, Marcia (David) Chiang, Terry (Melodye) Sabiston, and Cheryl (Andy) Arnette; her daughter-in-law, Lucille Sabiston; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Vernie Sprinkle; her sister, Marie Shook; her infant son, Kenneth; and her son, Michael.

Evelyn was an avid traveler who visited all 50 states with her husband. She was known to get “itchy feet” if she lived in one place for too long. She was proficient at puzzles and witty comebacks, and we all treasure the memories of her laughing until she cried.

She will be sorely missed by so many people, not the least of which will be her husband Borden to whom she was married for more than 72 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
