Flora Lyda Bishop
March 26, 1910 ~ April 28, 1999
1999, at her home following a long llness.
Mrs. Bishop was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Emory Eugene and Ida Preston Barnwell Lyda of Biltmore. She was married to George Howard “Dick” Bishop, who died in 1986 and
was also preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters. She attended Biltmore High School and Cecil’s Business College and was a former employee of C.P. Clare in Fairview.
She is survived by three daughters, Emily J. Bishop of Atlanta, Nancy Heatherley of Los Angeles CA, and Frances Hill of Asheville; a son, David Hugh Bishop of Leesburg, GA, and a son-in-law, John W. Hill of Asheville; 15 grandchildren, Susie Heatherley Bryant, Jerome, Erskine, Hollis, Jason, Hettie and Hollie Heatherley, Joe, Lee Ann and Jennifer Melton, David and Darren Bishop, Lisa
Bishop Trybalsky, Elizabeth Hill Hernandez, and Catherine Hill Brockwell; 24 great-grandchildren and 26 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday at Bethany United
Methodist Church in Fairview where she was a long time member, with the Rev. Avery Owenby officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7 - 9:00 pm Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton
Avenue where Mrs. Bishop will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. At other times, her family will be at the residence.

may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 212 Bethany Church Road, Fairview, NC 28730.
