Frances Adams Simonds, 98, of Deerfield Retirement Home died Saturday, February 18, 2012.
Frances was born in Deerwood, MN on August 27, 1913 to Cuyler Culver and Hortense Griffin Adams. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Adams and a brother, Cuyler Adams. She attended Sweet Briar College and graduated from the University of Minnesota and was employed by Duke Power and later managed a boutique dress shop. Prior to moving to Asheville, Mrs. Simonds lived in Tryon, NC and Charleston, SC. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross and the ASPCA. A devout lifelong Episcopalian, she took an active interest in the churches she attended and sang in the choir of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul in Charleston, S.C.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2012 at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul Cemetery in Charleston, SC under the direction of Stuhr Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 2:00 P.M in the Deerfield Health Care Chapel located on the ground floor Hayden Hall at Deerfield Retirement Home.
