Frances Chandler Plemmons, 81, of Reynolds School Road, Asheville, died Friday, November 20, 2009, at her residence. A native of Buncombe Co., Mrs. Plemmons was the daughter of the late John and Bessie Mae Henderson Chandler. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Earl Plemmons, and by her son, John. Mrs. Plemmons is survived by her daughters, Earlene Cruse, and Gwen Ammons and husband Dale; sons, Russell, George, Gerald and wife Toni, Frank and wife Linda, Larry, and Terry and wife Gail; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Reeves Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Frank J. Tyson officiating. Her family members will serve as pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 1293 Hendersonville Rd., Asheville, NC 28803.

  2. To all the family: I will truly miss Frances. I remember a lot of good times I shared with her and Earl while I was married to John. Some things that sick out in my mind are my one and only camping trip, her first time attempting to water ski, our many hair salon chats and her good cooking.   9. Nanny, I can’t believe that you, daddy and my step-dad are all gone within months of one another. Sometimes life just does not seem fair! You were a very special lady and I will forever cherish all the good times we shared. Especially the ones when daddy & me stayed with you & Paw while I was in high school. I knew then you would always have my back or my backside which ever was warranted at the time. My strength, determination and love of family come from you and for that I thank you! I’m lucky to have got to meet Frances.I could spend hours looking at all her collectibles and nick nacks and she could tell you where each came from and what it meant.Frances was a very special lady and i enjoyed what time we spent with her,she will be missed very much by her family,friends and anyone who got to know her.
