Frances Louise Parker Stubbs, 96, of Asheville, died Tuesday, October 7, 2014. A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late James Virgil and Annie Mae Bowlin Parker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Percy Truly Stubbs, brothers, J.V. Parker, Jr. and Porter Parker, and sisters, Virgie Stubbs and Pauline Parker. Mrs. Stubbs was a rural mail carrier for twenty-four years. She was a lifelong member of Reeves Chapel United Methodist Church, and church pianist for seventy years. She is survived by daughters Gail Cagle (late husband Dick Cagle) and Judy Emory and husband Steve; son, Gene Stubbs Sr. and wife Shirley; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters Ruth Penley, Barbara Ann Rogers, and Peggy Powell; and brothers George and Clarence Parker. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Revs. Jay W. Bissett and Jim Odum officiating. Interment will follow in the Reeves Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Reeves Chapel Building Fund, PO Box 605, Enka, NC 28728. The family wishes to express special thanks to Four Seasons Hospice.

  3. Such a sweet, always smiling lady. I worked for the N.C. Forest Service across the road and she was always interested in our work and we asked to use the Fellowship Bldg a couple of times for some special counseling when a member died and she helped arrange that. Always enjoyed seeing her at the breakfasts’ and bazaars. Praying for the family.
