Frances Meredith Turner

Frances Meredith Turner, a resident of Ardenwoods Retirement Community, passed away January 18, 2012 at the John F. Keever, Jr Hospice Solace Center in Asheville.
She was born in Norfolk, VA, and was raised both there and in New York City. She was a daughter of the late James and Alice Withers and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Vivian and Mary Ann and one brother, Jack.
Proud to be a homemaker, she was also an active volunteer in the cities where she and her family moved with her husband, who was in sales.
She leaves behind her husband of 68 years, Richard Thomas Turner; one daughter, Tracey Turner of Asheville; one son, Timothy Turner of Madison, WI and one sister, Norma Nicholson of Pensacola, FL.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, 72 Long Shoals Road in Arden, NC. An informal reception will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM on Saturday, January 28, 2012 in the Grille Room at Ardenwoods, 24 Appalachian Blvd in Arden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CarePartners Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813, Doctors Without Borders, www.doctorswithoutborders.org or to a charity of one's own choice.
