Asheville – Francis Joseph McMahon, 82, died Sunday, February 13, 2011. A native of Yonkers, NY, he was son of the late Francis Joseph McMahon Sr., M.D. and Catherine Connelly McMahon. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Alexander McMahon and by a grandson, Smith King. Frank was a retired insurance agent with Prudential, a former member of the Asheville Rotary Club, Brigade of Guards and the Biltmore Forest Country Club. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Japan in 1946 and 1947. Surviving is his wife, Mary Elizabeth Smith McMahon; a daughter, Beatrice Elizabeth McMahon King and her husband, Bruce, of Florence, SC; a son, Thomas B. McMahon and his wife, Susan C. Lewis, of Asheville and by two grandchildren, Lydia and Davis King. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm Wednesday at Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence following the graveside service. Memorials may be made to ones favorite charity.

  1. So sad to hear of Frank’s death. He was one of my favorite people. We have shared some good times. Vaughn and I will see you at the service tomorrow. Let me know if I can do anything!

  3. I am not sure that Francis is the same person I knew in Aiken,South Carolina at the Savannah River nuclear plant working for E.I. DuPont.The Francis I knew was a graduate of the University of N.C.
    I have great memories of the time I knew this man though it has been more than fifty years since we worked together. He was a great guy and I feel for his suvivors.
