Skyland – Franklin Roosevelt Fish, 71, died Thursday, March 31, 2005, at the home of his daughter in Warm Springs, Georgia. A native of Gastonia, NC, he was the son of the late William Mack and Margaret Wilson Fish and husband of the late Colleen Wright Fish, who died in 2002. Mr. Fish served for eleven years with the Merchant Marines, his last ship being the “Jackson” and worked construction in Asheville for 36 years. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Paula F. Thompson of Warm Springs, Georgia and Elaine F. Williams of Fairview; a son, Michael Fish of Skyland; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday at Trinity Baptist Church, 216 Shelburne Road, conducted by the Rev. Ralph H. Sexton, Jr. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 pm Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 216 Shelburne Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
