  1. I will forever be indebted to Fred Southard. As an overly rambunctious teen, (friend of Mike’s), Fred saw more in me that I did in myself. Fred provided me with an opportunity to pursue a professional career that likely would not have been attainable without his kindness & support.
He and the entire Southard family are in my prayers today and always.

  2. Missy & Eddie Perry we will forever miss uncle fred he was one of a kind and so much like grandpa I hope hes enjoying his time now with his parents and our grandparents

  3. Toni, so sorry for the loss. Cherish all your memories. Lean on Jesus for strength. Love, Bruce and Deb

  4. So sorry for your loss, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. He sounds like he was an incredible man!

  5. Geri, Toni , Mike and family please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. You have my deepest Sympathy.
    Glenda and family

    • Thank you Glenda and thank you for the phone call! Maybe once things settle down we can come for a visit.

  6. I’m so very sorry to see my brother-in-law has passed away! I thought I got the notifications from Groces, but IF I had seen his I would have known before yesterday & been there. Fred, thank you for all you did when my Dad (Bob Gardner) died 3/26/1974 with helping with Granny Gardner! You will surely be missed! Every time I watch Cops, I think of you! Geri, Toni, Mike & the rest of the family, I wish I could’ve been there for the service! I’ve got to make sure I’m getting notifications! I love you all & will miss Fred very much! Maybe I wasn’t around much since I married & moved to the Burlington, NC area (Elon, NC now)39+ yrs ago, you all are always in my prayers! And, I need to get back to going on Facebook daily, I’ve missed several weeks! Love you all & I’ll check in after I’m in PA house & dog sitting! Toni, you’re right I need to do it closer to home!

    • Vicki,
Sorry I was late letting you know😢
I can’t believe it’s been 39 years, but that makes sense.
      Love you

      • Toni, it’s ok, I just was sad he was gone & I missed being able to be there! Yes, it’s hard to believe it’s been 39 yrs, but this is home now, even though all my family & friends in the Asheville Area still mean so VERY much to me! I am getting the notices now from Groce’s, not sure how they stopped to begin with. Groce’s was like family, I mean Dale Groce is still my big brother, or I still think of him that way!
        I love you too Toni!
