Freddie Naomi Lanford Cote, of Carmel, Indiana and formerly of Berkley Springs, West Virginia passed away on July 6, 2006. One of six children, Freddie and her twin Bertie were born in Asheville, NC on February 20, 1916, to Hubert and Mary Lanford. She is survived by one brother, Frank Lanford of Asheville. Freddie used her spiritual gifts of love, generosity, tenderness, patience and kindness as a wife, mother, and friend. She was married for 53 years to Alphonse J. Cote who preceded her in death. Never a stranger crossed her path who did not know her talent for homemaking, baking, sewing, gardening or hospitality. Her greatest gifts to all who knew her were her extraordinary faith in our Lord, common sense and the ability to find the funny side in any situation. She will be dearly missed by her friends at Manor Care, especially her bridge partners and dinner companions. Her children and their spouses: A. Joseph Cote (Wendy), Jean Paison (Allen), Yvonne Rogers (George), John Cote (Johanna), and Mark Cote (Terri); grandchildren: Dianne, Suzanne, Brian, Curt, Lisa, Brita, Jennifer, Chris, Jeremy, Chris, Jeremy, and Jessica; great-grandchildren: Danny, Carlo, Vito, Alex, Jackson, Bennett, Olivia, Camden and Reese along with nieces, nephews, and friends will celebrate her life at a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2006 at Pisgah View Memorial Park, Candler. The family will receive friends and loved ones at Groce Funeral Home, 1401 Patton Ave., Asheville, on Friday, July 14 from 4-6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Second Helpings, Inc. 1121 Southeastern Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46202.
