G. Perry Burnette

G. Perry Burnette, 95, of 109 Reynolds School Road, died Tuesday, August 17, 2010. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late John Daniel and Polly Josephine Redmon Burnette. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Buckner Burnette, a son, Gordon Perry Burnette, Jr., and twelve brothers and sisters. Mr. Burnette retired after 42 years with Johnson-Chandley Lumber Company. He was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed working on old cars, especially Model A and Model T Fords. He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Rose Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Gary Fox and Norris Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Gashes Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. Memorials may be made to Rose Hill Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Building Fund, c/o Ken Baldwin, 115 Reynolds School Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
