Garland Alden Worley, 82, of Asheville, died Saturday, October 21, 2006, in Suffolk, VA. Born and raised in Buncombe County, he was a son of the late J.G. and Betty Parham Worley. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Nettie Lee Worley; a daughter, Peggy and a granddaughter, Chessie. He was a retired farmer and a member of Woodland Terrace Baptist Church. Survivors include five children, Wayne, Weaver, James, Ronald and Darlene; nine grandchildren, Paul, Michael, Wayne Jr., Michelle, Deborah, Rebecca, Dale, Jason and Jamie and fourteen great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Mountain View FWB Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.

    I was sorry to hear of your dad’s death and wanted you guys to know I am thinking of you. I remember talking and sharing some of his life with you while I was at Viola and knew he had his ups and downs and you guys were trying to help him.
