Gayle Cleveland Huntley, 82, of Asheville, died Saturday, February 2, 2019, at his residence.
Born in Buncombe County to the late Otis and Irene Earwood Huntley, he was co-owner of Huntley Construction with his brother, Harvey for over fifty years, a member of The Rock Church and a veteran of the US Army. He loved to travel and collect vintage cars.
Survivors include the love of his life, his wife of over 60 years, Shirley Wilkerson Huntley; sons, Keith Huntley (Sherry) of the Reynolds community, and Kevin Huntley (Kim) of Central, SC; daughter, Kena Grooms (Karl) of the Reynolds community; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Harvey Huntley; sisters, Ruth Frizzell and Linda Garren, all of the Reynolds community.
The funeral service will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at The Rock Church with Pastor Kirk Bowman and Pastor Ashley McDowell officiating. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Endeavor Fund, c/o The Rock Church, 273 Monte Vista Rd., Candler, NC, 28715.
Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is assisting the family.
Gayle Huntley was a good and honorable man. He was respected and admired by many. He will be greatly missed.

I have been blessed to know this man for 22 years! He was a very hard worker! Always their to help when we needed him! Can’t say enough about this amazing man!! He truly was a great person! Love his family as well!!
