I always enjoyed running into Mr. Nicholson whether it be at the Country Club or Happy Hill always remembered you and enjoyed seeing you. Taught my parents, uncles and me. I will never forget him walking up to our table and putting his hands on my daughters shoulders and saying I’ve never met you but, I can tell from across the room you are a Farlow.
I’m sorry I can’t be in town for the funeral but I can assure you I will never forget him.
Coach your were a coach and mentor to most of the members of the Wednesday (ROMEO’s) breakfast group at the ole Tastee Diner. You

I was proud to be one his students. Every morning in homeroom we would all get to our respects to USA by repeating our Pledge to Old Glory the Flag. He was of my favorite male teachers! Rest in Peace our friend as we will see you again in Heaven. May God Bless the many that knew him as as his very own Family. Just know that he is resting and not far for is Jesus.

I’m so sorry to hear of Coach’s passing. I was fortunate to know him as a student and basketball player 50 years ago, and on a friendly and professional basis for these last many years. I’ve always had deep respect for him, never able to call him George despite his requests. He will always be Coach. RIP.
I will always remember Mr. Nicholson for his kindness, warm heart and happy disposition. He was a great friend to my mother, sister and I. May he rest in peace and God bless him and his family.

To Coach’s family, know he made a positive difference in many lives as a coach, teacher and friend. I loved having lunch with him whenever I was back in Asheville. From Tom Ressler and all the Hall Fletcher students and teammates 1960-63, ‘Thanks, Coach, for dedicating your life to educating young people.’
