George Bennett Pittillo, 76, of Fletcher, died Monday, December 3, 2012 at his residence. A native of Henderson County, he was a son of the late Earl and Susanna Presley Pittillo. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and David Pittillo. A United States Army Veteran, he is survived by his wife of 36 years, Pauline McKinney Pittillo; one son, Keith Pittillo and his wife, Sherry, of Mills River; three sisters, Martha Jane Pittillo, Juanita Hall and Sarah Ray, all of Fletcher; two grandchildren, Justin and Melissa Pittillo as well as several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Reverends Roy Waldroup and Richard Merck officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 4 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please consider a memorial contribution to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
