George G. Miller, 69, of 40 Hilldale Road, Asheville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 23,2000.

Mr. Miller was a native of Buncombe County and was a son of the late Bob and Essie Curtis Miller. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean conflict and worked at Farnum Manufacturing Co. for 30 years before retiring as a supervisor. He was a former race car driver in the 1960’s and 70’s at the New Asheville Speedway.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy S. Miller; two stepsons, Wade Chastain of Weaverville and Roger Chastain and his wife June of Asheville; one step-granddaughter, Brittany Leigh Chastain of Asheville; one sister, Fay Haynes of Asheville; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends and loved ones.

Funeral services will be at 4:00 pm Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Frank Cantrell and Ed Robertson officiating. Burial will be at Skyview Memorial Park.

His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
