George Harold Ledford, Jr., 75, of Asheville, died Tuesday, June 6, 2017.
A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late George Ledford, Sr. and Cora Almond Ledford.
Mr. Ledford was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked as a conductor with the railroad. Following retirement, he was a part of Campers on Mission. He was humble, kind hearted, and not only talked about being a Christian, he showed it in his everyday walk.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Ledford; children, John Vandenbergehe, Tim Vandenberghe, Christine Ledford Nguyen, and Lisa Ledford May; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and brother Larry Ledford.
The family will begin receiving friends at 11:30 a.m. on Monday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, www.ifcj.org.
