George Perry Williams, 57, of Fairview, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 22, 2012 after sustaining injuries in a motorcycle accident. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of Bertha Deviney Willliams of Asheville and of the late Gordon Perry Williams. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Isaiah Messer. George was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Prior to his employment with Manna Food Bank, he was an auto mechanic for over thirty years, specializing in Chrysler automobiles. He was very dedicated to his family and loved the Lord. His family would like to thank everyone for their thoughtfulness and compassion during this difficult time. GOD BLESS YOU! In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Pat McGranor Williams; three daughters, Tracy Messer and her husband, Brett, of Waynesville, Patty Williams of Meadville, PA and Ashley Ferguson and her husband, Larry, of Griffin, GA; two sisters, Nettie Hutchins of Asheville and Nola Payne of Asheville; three brothers, James Williams of Cordova, NC, Tommy Williams of Leicester and Joe Williams of Fairview; two granddaughters, Mariah and Brooke Messer as well as six nieces and three nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Whitted and Pastor Ronald Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. Memorials may be made to Manna Food Bank, 627 Swannanoa River Road, Asheville, NC 28805 or to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 1464, Fairview, NC 28730.
