George Herren Taylor, 81, passed away on June 25, 2015 at his home in Arden. He was the son of the late George W. and Christine Herren Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Carter Taylor, brother William Milburn Taylor (wife Mary), son Gary Herren Taylor (wife Susan), daughter Christy Taylor Williams (husband Ransome), daughter Lisa Taylor Lackey (husband John), and six grandchildren: Geoffrey Herren Taylor (wife Abby), Chelsea Taylor (fiancé Adam), Avery Williams, Jessica Williams, Sara Lackey and George Jacob Lackey. A native of Buncombe County, George graduated from Fairview High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War, and spent most of his career in automobile dealership management. He was respected by many and will be remembered for his generosity – he was always looking out for others. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UNC Asheville's Excellence Fund: UNC Asheville Foundation, 1 University Heights, CPO #3800, Asheville, NC 28804( https://giving.unca.edu/george-herren-taylor ) A graveside service will be held at Tweeds Chapel Cemetery in Fletcher at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2015. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
