GEORGE W. TAYLOR George William Taylor, 91, of 1 Quail Point, Fletcher, died Wednesday, November 5, 2003. Mr. Taylor was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Turner and Martha Rice Taylor. He was a self-employed carpenter and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Christine Herren Taylor; two sons, William M. Taylor of Fletcher and George H. Taylor of Arden; a sister, Bonnie Welborn of Candler; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Edwin Worley officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park. His family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

  1. Jake remembers as a child sitting on the front porch with his cousins on a Sunday afternoon at Granddaddy & Grandma Herren’s house, and the hearty laugh Uncle George always had. Those were very special days.

  2. Bill and Mary. we are so sorry about the passing of Mr. Taylor. I will remember the times I got to talk with him during his short stay at Universal. He was always pleasant to talk with.
