Georgia Burnette Brown

GEORGIA BURNETTE BROWN ASHEVILLE – Georgia Burnette Brown, 90, of Mt. Carmel Rd., died on Friday, December 24, 2010, at her niece’s home in Candler. A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late C.B. and Georgia Ramsey Brown. She was also preceded in death by sisters Vergie Duckett, Pearl Brown, Della Peek, Essie Brown, Edna Rogers, and brothers Hamp Brown, Faraday Brown, Conley Brown, Sherrill Brown, Wayne Brown, Ray Brown, and Ralph Brown. Ms. Brown was an English teacher, primarily at Erwin High School, with the Buncombe County School System for 42 years. She received her master’s degree in English from Western Carolina University. She was a member of Leicester United Methodist Church. Ms. Brown is survived by her niece and caregiver, Judith Farmer, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to extend special appreciation to CarePartners Hospice.
