Asheville ~ Georgia Parker Cochrane, 101, of Aston Park Health Care Center, died Thursday, October 2, 2003. A native of Buncombe County, Mrs. Cochrane was a daughter of the late Julia Brooks Parker and Samuel Parker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Jennings Cochrane. Mrs. Cochrane was a retired school teacher, having taught at Sand Hill and Candler. She served as a volunteer for the Aston Park Auxiliary, with the Red Cross for over 25 years and was a member of the Good Neighbor Club. She was a member of Acton United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Etheridge and her husband, James of Norfolk, VA; a son, Julian Cochrane and his wife, Norma of Avery's Creek; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Enka with Pastor Paul Hacklander officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 - 2:30 PM at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road. Memorials may be made to Acton United Methodist Church, 171 Sand Hill School Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
