Gerald William Locklear, 65, passed away Tuesday March 27, 2018. He was a son of the late Grady Locklear and Margie Hunt Nixon. Big Willy is survived by his brother, Michael Locklear; sister, Fay Freeman; local family, Gregory Casey, Bryan Woods, Teresa "Pete" Kelly and the Octopus Gardens Employees; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. The memorial service will be held on Saturday March 31, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave., with Rev. Teresa C. Kelly officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CarePartners Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.

  7. I still can’t believe my friend for 25 years left us. I will always remember the night that he come to the bar and introduced himself to me. He didn’t have much at that time but we become best friends and remain so for many years. All the way from here is hard to immagine that he is really gone . He touched many people’s heart and was allot of fun. I’ll miss you Willimina

  14. I know this is late, but I just found this news out TODAY my heart is broken for so many reasons and people/family. Will you were truly an amazing soul you touched so many people with your kindness and playful ness and just pure Joy. Never did I not see you laughing or smiling.
