  6. Dear Helen,
Words cannot express my sorrow at your loss. I am so sorry I cannot be there today for Jerry’s funeral. My thoughts and prayers are with you. My parents (Bernice and Gene Welch) count you and Jerry among their very dearest friends. My Mother said that Jerry is the reason I am here…as he introduced my parents. I have many fond memories of visiting ya’ll in Durham as a child (with our poodle “Max”) and of you and Jerry coming to see us in Manassas. My parents looked forward to and enjoyed those visits. It meant a lot to our family that you and Jerry came to all our occassions. I remember Jerry laughing – teasing us all and joking with my father. Perhaps they are doing that right now.
    Sincerely with love,
    Tamara Welch Severe (Tammy)
