Geraldine Elizabeth Banks Smith, 85, of Asheville, NC passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024 at the CarePartners Solace Center in Asheville, NC.

Gerri was born in Asheville, NC to the late Grady and Gladys Banks. She was a 1958 graduate of Clyde A. Erwin High School.
She is preceded in death by her siblings, Grady McKinley Banks Jr., Daisy Coleman, Donald Banks, Lee Roy Banks, Marge Anne Banks, Betty Jean Jenkins and Arnold Richard Banks, Sr.

She worked at Three Mountaineers Inc. before staying home to raise her children. Gerri enjoyed sewing, cooking, spending time with her family and her special cat companion, Prince. Gerri lived on Cub Road for 74 years before moving next door to her daughter and son-in-law Connie and Dan 13 months ago.

Surviving Gerri is her husband of 65 years, Roy Kermit Smith, Jr.; her three children, Marvin Smith (Yvette), Teresa Smith, and Connie Smith (Dan Smith); her five grandchildren, Brandon Henson, Brooke Bowlin (Dusty) Ashleigh Rogers (Jon), Tyler Smith (Halee Ratcliff) and Erica Shelton (Ryan); and one special great granddaughter, Carmen Rogers. She is also survived by her sister, Jannette Shipman, and several special nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Pisgah View Memorial Park, with Rev. Kelvin Moseley officiating.
