Geraldine McAbee Forester, 72, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 3, 2022.

A native of Bat Cave, NC, Geraldine was a daughter of the late Herman and CoraVe Owenby McAbee. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Richard Franklin Forester, and her brother, Wade McAbee.

Mrs. Forester was a member of Brookstone Church. In addition to the love for her family, Geraldine shared a real love with her neighbors and community. She will be missed by many.

She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Brookshire (Roger), Lisa Rogers (Johnny), Joy Hollifield (Jimmy), Kristy Sluder (David), and Laura Smith (Wes); grandchildren, Brittany, Jonathan, Hanna, Joshua, Jesse, Cody, Kaytlynn and Caleb; great-grandchildren, Everleigh, Ryleigh, Emerson, Chase, Adelynn, and Sadie; and several other family members.

Mrs. Forester’s family will receive friends beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. Pastor Jim Dykes will officiate. Interment will then take place at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

Her family wishes to express their thanks to the CarePartners staff for the excellent care and compassion shown to Mrs. Forester.
