Hilda Geraldine Sams Shelton, 87, of Asheville passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 in John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center.
She was a native of Buncombe County and was the daughter of the late Alfred and Lessie Fox Sams. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. She retired from Trailways Bus Lines and more recently worked many years for the Grove Park Inn. She was a life long member of the Salvation Army.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Manley Jack Shelton and a son, Jack Ronald Shelton both of Asheville.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Friday in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Lt. Brett Cundiff officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:30 P.M. Thursday at Groce Funeral Home East Asheville on Tunnel Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Salvation Army, PO Box 1778 Asheville, NC 28802.
